Obsess, Meditate, Repeat

One Simple Element repeated again and again, and again and again- can make the smallest of objects or marks, go from uncomplicated to all consuming.

In this project start with 2 large pieces (A3) of paper , the first piece of paper put just one mark and the next paper fill the entire surface with that mark , whichever mark you choose to use.

I used a dot , and the process was absolutely meditative and I loved it .

2 things I pleasantly discovered about myself in this project -

  1. I have patience ( I did not know this ! in fact I have always assumed otherwise)

  2. Also as much as I admire symmetry, my love is asymmetry

So here are the two projects side by side , tell me which one are more you .

This chapter in the book has by 3 wonderful women - Gunjan Alyawadi , Nike Schroder and Sarah Gee Miller , apart from Alma Woodsey Thomas and Niki De Saint Phalle ( Among the historical ones)

Daniel mentions the rushed practical aspects of each of the artists with their process actually being an opposition to the intricate, repetitive almost mediative art process each one of them enjoys. Makes me thing is art a kind of your alter ego - your art style is it something that you aspire to and want to achieve in the real world? Something to clearly think on.

If you try this project do let me know which one resonated with you . I for sure am going to use this every-time I find myself too blocked and stuck in my mind .
